Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport

The Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport is a nine-story hotel located in Burlingame, California. The close proximity to the San Francisco Airport and events held in the beautiful atrium located at the center of the property created a need for sound attenuation. Acoustical panels were installed on the atrium side in addition to a secondary glazing unit on 785 guest rooms. This window reduces the sound levels in the guest rooms by 15 decibels, resulting in improved guest comfort levels. The hotel is now able to host more events in the atrium space.

Gilroy Prep, Gilroy CA

Gilroy Prep is a charter school located in Gilroy, CA. The school wanted to utilize their Proposition 39 allocation, but was not happy with the solutions that were being provided by the district's consultant. Their main concern was they wanted an HVAC controls solutions that could be managed remotely so the facilities management could handle both Gilroy Prep and their sister school in Hollister. After completing a facility audit and interviews with the facilities team we decided the Pelican Wireless thermostats and the Lutron Energi TriPak lighting controls systems would be the best value for them. In order to maximize the available rebates Mynt Systems completed all 257 fixtures in the five days the school was closed for spring break. Pelican Wireless thermostats were installed in each classroom and office and five new high efficiency heat pumps replaced end of life equipment. Low-e window film was also applied to the south and west facing windows to reduce heat gain. The project was entirely funded with Proposition 39 funds and utility rebates. Rebates received: $44,693 Annual savings: $13,419

HGST, Window Film

HGST, Inc. (formerly Hitachi Global Storage Technologies) is a subsidiary of Western Digital that sells hard disk drives, solid-state drives, and external storage products and services. Their U.S. Headquarters are located in San Jose, California. HGST was looking for maximum energy savings and inhabitant comfort improvement while maintaining a clear and natural view for their San Jose campus. The older design of the property, with main work areas being enclosed by long perimeter hallways that were originally designed for quick movement through the large areas, made it difficult to model and specify an "easy choice" solution for the objectives presented by the client. To insure the best fit for all of the clients needs and goals, three products were presented as effective options for achieving the clients goals for the project. The 3M window film that was eventually installed was selected after rigorous selection process where the three different window film candidates were evaluated and scored in the areas of appearance, performance and price. 3M Affinity 30 was installed on 24,000 square feet of glass. Energy savings from reduced heating and cooling costs are estimated to be $32,679 annually.

Sonic Manufacturing, Fremont CA

Sonic Manufacturing is an 80,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Fremont, CA. The heat produced by the manufacturing equipment and the metal halide lighting in the facility was overwhelming the cooling units. A complete LED lighting retrofit was completed for the manufacturing floor and office areas. Each lighting product was carefully selected to ensure the light quality and level in the manufacturing areas was maintained. Low-e window film was applied to all east and west facing windows to reduce heat gain to further reduce cooling costs. The monthly savings generated from upgrading the lighting and windows was then used to finance the replacement of three of the 30 year old HVAC units that had reached the end of their useful life.

Annual Electricity Savings: $54,492 Annual Maintenance Savings: $3,676
